Classic Locality

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Oberzeiring, Pölstal, Murtal District, Styria, Austria
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Cabinet (10-18 cm)
Size:
10.6 × 6.5 × 5 cm
Description

Great Austria classic" These calcites are called "feather"-Calcites - their texture reminds to a feather. This material is hard to obtain - the area is defunct, the mining area is closed, no new material came out since decades. So even a "common" feather calcite from Oberzeiring is rare - but this one even shows the even more rare combination with snowy white, sparkling micro-crystals of gypsum, which help to give a wonderful contrast to the piece. The main crystal is set exposed in the center and the specimen looks very aesthetic - even better in person! No significant damages to report.
