Classic Locality

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Luftenberg, St Georgen an der Gusen, Perg District, Upper Austria, Austria
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Thumbnail (1-3cm)
Size:
2.4 × 1.7 × 2.3 cm
Description

The specimen is out of a very small discovery from 1973 in an old, defunct little quarry near the village Luftenberg. I digged at the locality in the 80ties and even 30 years ago it was very difficult to find even a smaple in the pegatites. So this is not a horrible good beryl, but it is very rare and very hard to obtain - today (since about 20 years) it is more or less impossible to find anything there! The crystal is sharp terminated, it shows a touch of light green color. The matrix is light smoky quartz. The crystal is stabilized - like 99% of all material from this locality.
