Description

A very aesthetic specimen from old discoveries - I never like the new ones very much; they are too pale. The old material shows better color. This one is - depending on light source - dark blue-violet (under daylight, as shown on my photography) or intense violet-purple (under artificial light). The faces show this typical texture and consists of tiny squares. Each of these tiny squares is razor sharp and all faces are very glossy. One further attractive detail: you can see a thin, sharp zoning along all edges. The crystals formed a tower, raising up from a spherical aggregate of ivory-colored Barite. Less prominenet crystals at the lower base are cleaved, but all prominent crystals are in excellent condition. The combination with Barite gives great visual impact and lot of contrast to the piece - much more contrast as the more common combination with Sphalerite and it is more rare than the combination with Dolomite - in my evaluation (and I really love Elmwood - an Elmwood Fluorite was the first specimen for my Fluorite collection) the most attractive combination from Elmwood.
A part of the backside was contacted and healed during genesis, no significant damages to report.
