Description

Most material was found in the eraly 6oties when the mine was still operating under the name "Bülten-Adenstedt Mine". Groutite is a rare mineral in general and in this case it even came from this old classic locality! The mineral belongs to the diaspore group and was named in honor petrologist Frank Fitch Grout. It developed highly lustrous, jet-black aggregates embedded in manganite matrix. A very rare, attractive sample - and who said that black is not beautiful?
