Fluorite

Floater

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Weißeck Area, Murwinkel, Lungau, Salzburg, Austria
Class:
Crystal Group/Cluster
Size Range:
Small cabinet (7-10 cm)
Size:
9.8 × 6.9 × 2 cm
Description

The specimen is developed as floater and NOT from summit cleft, it came from a relatively small discovery at the north slope of the mountain - the so called ice-cleft. This is the only locality which produced a relevant quantity if lustrous fluorite crystals - all other discoveries onyl included more etched, dull material. The whole piece is translucent - caused by the different thickness of the piece this effect is nearly impossible to photograph - you can see it in a small area, but in person the whole specimen is translucent. Should be high ranked for this exceptional quality.
