Pyrrhotite Pyrite & Sphalerite

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Trepča, Mitrovica District, Kosovo
Class:
Combination
Size Range:
Small cabinet (7-10 cm)
Size:
8.3 × 8.4 × 4.1 cm
Description

Hard to describe - the specimen consists of thin blades of pyrrhotite (you cannot see this really well on the photos) - the edges of all these blades are powdered with micro-crystals of pyrite. Minor calcite is also present and between the pyrrhotite blades you also can see some sharp lustrous sphalerite crystals. Nearly impossible to capture this with the camera, better in person
