Description Tabs

Locality:
Raidlgraben, Fritzbach Valley, Pöham, St Johann im Pongau District, Salzburg, Austria

Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
5 × 3.2 × 2.7 cm
Description

Lazulite from Werfen is an exceptional rarity - and it is of highest relevance for entire Europe. Of course it is not compareable with material from Afghanistan or Kanada, but it still is the best locality for the mineral in Europe. The particular specimen shows one isolated, exposed, sharp and glossy crystal in intense blue color. The contrast to bron matrix is very fine. The locality "Raidlgraben" was a historic discovery and is well known for the very best specimen from the area. The locality is only a few meters in square, so this is really exceptional stuff!
