Description Tabs

Description

Oberdorf an der Laming, Laming Valley, Bruck-Mürzzuschlag District, Styria, Austria
Class:
Crystal Group/Cluster
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
5.1 × 3.6 × 2.6 cm
Description

The mining area in non-productive and it is prohibited to dig there. The locality produced the very best strontianite specimen in the world! While usually this mineral only forms dull white and most time micro-crystals, Oberdorf produced large crystals in fine orange to reddish color. The particular specimen is very uncommon, even for Oberdorf. The crystals show a very uncommon and more rare elongated habit with a thin red strip in the upper quarter. These crystals always remind me to a torch. The specimen is developed as floater with minor inter-grown matrix. No significant damages to report and very aesthetic!
