Description

Knappenwand is the very best locality for Epidote world-wide and this particular specimen features the very best quality. It is really very rare, that one specimen unify aesthetics on highest level with luster, dimension and translucency. All crystals are very translucent and depending on angle you can see the pleochroismus very well. All faces show exceptional luster - they look like mirror-finshed and you only have to look at the assemble to fall in love! Since the last few years no new material was found at the locality - so maybe these are the last pieces from this world-famous classic, historic, centuries-old locality! I had this specimen is my personal collection for years, then I trade it a few years ago and finally it found the way back to me. Even the field-collectors who have the permit for the locality sell repaired specimen in similar dimension and quality for thousands; so the invisible repair on this one is more than acceptable. Nearly all material is repaired - even from all finds, I have to note this here - just in case someone thinks something like this is available in unrepaired state. The piece is complete all around, each angle is magnificant, the reverse is not less beautiful - amazing details 360°. A true alpine treasure.
