Tourmaline

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Pederneira Mine, São José da Safira, Minas Gerais, Brazil
Class:
Single Crystal
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
5.1 × 1.7 × 1.2 cm
Description

The crystal is sharp terminated, lustrous and complete all around and end-point is sharp and glossy, too. It is not a common water-melon, more recent discoveries show pink phantoms with green outer zoning. This particular crystals is from an old find – and the pink phantom is framed with a blue zoning with touch of green (so blue-green with more of blue) - much more intense and vibrant in person. And a thin dark royal blue concentration of color along the end point.

Before someone ask – this crystal was photographed under daylight, no lamps or backlight! Most dealers show their Tourmalines under best light conditions and with backlight - I prefer to show them very natural. With some light effects or only with the lamps in a cabinet it would look even more attractive. The clarity and the translucency are very, very good! It is really hard to obtain old Pederneiras in this color and quality. No significant damages to report.
