Lazurite Psm Plagioclase

Rare Mineral

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Ladjuar Madan, Kokcha Valley, Badakhshan Province, Afghanistan
Class:
Crystal Group/Cluster
Size Range:
Small cabinet (7-10 cm)
Size:
7.4 × 6 × 4 cm
Description

Lazurite is well known for this locality - but not as pseudomorph result after plagioklase. This material was found at least 10 years ago, only a fist full of well shaped specimen ever reached the market and it was valued extremly high at the Tucson show in 2008. Since that time no new or compare-able specimen were found. The crystal shows a remarkable dimension, it is sharp terimnated and glossy. The contrast to snowy white areas to dark blue veins is very eye-catching. Should be high ranked for the out-standing rarity.
