Fluorite & Quartz

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Xia Yang Mine, Fujian Province, China (Peoples Republic)
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Small miniature (3-4.5 cm)
Size:
4.4 × 3.6 × 2.8 cm
Description

This material came on the market about 2 years ago - and there were plenty of them. So far I avoid to buy one - my reasons: the crystals are too dark, so they need strong backlight to show their internal purple color. And most crystals are inter-grown or with matrix on their backside and so it is difficult to give them enough backlight. When I discovered this little jewel I had to buy within a blink of an eye. When you see it in person you cannot decide what is front ad which is backside. The main crystal is completely exposed at the top of the matrix which is covered with tiny sparkling and water-clear tiny Quartz crystals. And it shows much better translucency than 95% of all other specimen I saw from the locality. The habit is a combination of cube and rhomb, each edge is razor sharp and all faces show the very best luster, quality is simply over the roof. And the assemble is perfect, too. It really stands out the crowd from this discovery - it is just pure eye-candy.
