Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
4.8 × 3.7 × 1.6 cm
Description

The specimen consists of the typical grey shists matrix. At the top you can see one exposed, well shaped emarald crystal in intense dark green color. The faces are glossy and show attractive texture. The end points are intergrown to matrix. Material from the localiyt is of highest relevance - the only locality in mid-Europe that produce emerald in relevant dimension and quality. It is very difficult to find a well terminated crystal in this size and color. The photo shows the crystal with minor backlight and this color is really close to crystals from Colombia. Although the clarity and the luster is not on the same level like crystals from South America, this material from an alpine clefts is for sure much more rare. No significant damages to report.
