Locality:
Bingham, Socorro County, New Mexico, United States of America
Class:
Single Crystal
Size Range:
Small miniature (3-4.5 cm)
Size:
3 × 2.9 × 2 cm
Description

Usually we know pale to dark blue crystals from the locality. In fact the Blanchard mines are 13 ! Mines - they all produce very similar blue crystals in different step of blue. With this one exception - this crystal is from the fish-stick pocket and looks very different to common material from Blanchard. The crystal shows a light lavender core, then a lighter zoning and finally intense blue sharp zoning along the edges. This material is quite rare and very exceptional for the locality. It is a front-side specimen; the backside was contacted and the bottom extracted from the rock.
