Description

Material from Großglockner Mountain (the highest mountain in austrian alps, altitude 3.800 m) is very rare. It is located in the heart of the national park "Hohe Tauern". Field collecting is prohibited. So all we have is old material in low quantity. The particular specimen is a very impressive skeletal Quartz: it is water clear, developed as floater, highly lustrous all around and it consists of uncountable stepped faces. Some internal cracks cause a wonderful refraction inside the crystal - in a few angles it looks like a rainbow inside the crystals. A true jewel of austrian alps. No significant damages to report, even better in person.
