Rogerley Mine, Frosterley, Weardale, County Durham, United Kingdom

Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Cabinet (10-18 cm)
Size:
15.5 × 8.9 × 6.3 cm
Description

A reakly impressive specimen from the old Rogerley Mine. The twin crystals show bottle green colour and switch to intense blue under daylight. Most material from the locality shows crystals with fuzzy centers, not so here: the crystals are water clear and faces show very good luster. Most specimen are filled with crystals and don't show any contrast to the matrix. So also this indicator is uncommon for the locality. The crystals are up to 20 mm on edges.
