This is a specimen from the famous discovery of a water-tunnel construction between the villages of Böckstein and Remsach in Gastein Valley. The tunnel was built during the construction of a Power station and finally flooded with water. The miners discovered this cleft on meter 3710 in the year of 1995. This discovery is among the most important alpine Fluorite discoveries ever done in Austria, it is one of our most famous classics! The numebr of specimen was very low - again only one cleft produced this material! Usually the crystals are dull, this particular specimen shows glossy faces - so out of a low number of specimen only a fist full was in this amazing quality. On todays market this material is valued very high - please think about how many green octahedrons you know from alpine clefts. There must be thousands of pink ones, but only a few localities in entire Alps produced green ones. So rarity is one important indicator for the high prices of this material.
But back to the specimen: the main crystal is 18mm on edges and 21mm across, sharp terminated and it shows the typical light mint-green color. The contrast to milky Quartz crystals is very nice, the crystal is very exposed and the whole assemble looks very aesthetic. Specimen like this are more or less impossible to obtain.
