Description

Pyrolusite is a member of the rutile-group. It was named in 1827 from the Greek for "fire" and "to wash," because it was used to remove brown and green tints in the making of glass. It is relatively rare minerals and in this size and quality from an old classic locality in Germany of really high relevance. And the particular specimen is really fantastic - there are several sprays with highly lustrous crystals attractively set on matrix -- an outstanding piece for the mineral and the locality!
