Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Olenitsa River, White Sea Coast, Murmansk Oblast, Russian Federation

Combination
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
4.6 × 4.5 × 4.2 cm
Description

Since this material appeared on the market in the 90ties it always confused collectors and mineralogists. First it was judged as calcite after something embedded in concretions, then glendonite after ikaite, then as calcite after ikaite. Today it is classified as calcite variety glendonite, which is pseudomorph after an unknown mineral. The sharp biomorphic-looking orange crystals are embedded to this strange concretion, which is developed as complete sphere. The specimen is developed as floater and looks great in each angle. No significant damages to report.
