Description

This is a specimen from the legendary "Reiter-Cleft", discovered in the early 70ties from the local Strahler Sebastian Brandstätter. He used to collect minerals at most dangerous places and died by an accident in 1972. Violet octahedrons are extremely rare from entire Alps, not even a fist full of localities produced this color. The particular specimen represents the very best color - a strong, intense dark purple! The assemble couldn´t be better - a smaller crystal at the base, a second exposed larger crystal at the top. Both are well developed allround; two sharp octahedrons with a small area od light intergrown matrix, which gives a lot of contrast to the piece - a fantastic thumbnail from one of the most rare alpine fluorite discoveries and in best condition!
