Description

Vesper Peak garnets frequently exhibit modification of the dodecahedron by the cube, shown on many crystals on this specimen. Garnet morpology is most often restricted to the dodecahedron and the trapezohedron. The cube form is a very rare occurrence for the Garnet Group.
The crystals are razor sharp terminated, their luster is superb and they show a very strong, dark and impressive saturation. Garnets from Pakistan don´t show this clarity and they are darker. The only compare able stuff is from Jeffrey´s Quarry, Quebec, Canada. They show even a little bit more clarity and they have a beautiful saturation – but not this intense color and also not this modification with cubic faces. AND – they are ten times more common. Specimen from Vesper Peak are crazy rare – in all these years I saw only one specimen in person, this is the second I ever had, even Alien Fluorites are more easy to get than this stuff. This is a specimen of highest relevance!
