Description
Locality:
Cruzeiro Mine, São José da Safira, Minas Gerais, Brazil
Class:
Crystal Group/Cluster
Size Range:
Small cabinet (7-10 cm)
Size:
7.3 × 6.8 × 2.3 cm
Description

The specimen is formed like a "L", it consists of several intergrown crystals - all of them sharp terminated and glossy. The vertical crystals are dark green at the base, then they turn to intense blue and finally they show a very rare, sharp terminated intense red cap. Some areas (at the side in the middle) are covered with tiny crystals of second generation. Please note, that it doesn´t need backlight to show these spectacular internal colors. First photo was done under artificial light (compare-able to visual impression in a cabinet), second under daylight. The specimen is even more spectacular in person! The lower horizontal part on this Tourmaline-L is repaired, overal in excellent condition!
