Gem Crystal

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Paprook, Nuristan Province, Afghanistan
Class:
Single Crystal
Size Range:
Small miniature (3-4.5 cm)
Size:
3.8 × 1.4 × 0.8 cm
Description

The crystal is sharp terminated and lustrous all around. At the base a small group of lepidolite is attached, it show a touch of violet color. The tourmaline crystal shows very unusual colors – there is a pink-red phantom, framed by an olive-green zoning. At the end-point it shows an intense concentration of candy pink. The pink at the end point is a completely different color than the pink phantom. Paprok produced so many different colors and different style of tourmaline – but this tones and combinations of colors are really new. Although the crystals are small, they represent something very different compared to all other material from the locality. The discovery was so small and I think the few crystals which are on the market now will disappear very quick.
