Fluorite

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Diana Maria Mine, West Rogerley Quarry, Weardale, County Durham, United Kingdom
Class:
Single Crystal
Size Range:
Small miniature (3-4.5 cm)
Size:
3.5 × 3.4 × 1.7 cm
Description

A very beautiful twinned crystal from this new discovery at Rogerley quarry! The specimen is sharp terminated, faces show very good luster. Usually - during all the last years - Rogerely produced dark green color, these new crystals show also this dark green color. But they also have this dark violet pantom - this is a novelity for Rogerley. Under daylight this phantom shows a strong daylight fluorescence (gives intense blue color to the crystal). The clarity is partly like glass, as you can see in my second photo in the gallery.
