Mauterndorf Quarry, Mauterndorf, Taurach Valley, Tamsweg District, Salzburg, Austria
Class:
Crystal Group/Cluster
Size Range:
Cabinet (10-18 cm)
Size:
17.4 × 9.2 × 6.7 cm
Description

A remarkable tri-dimensional specimen with amazing sculptural assemble. The fluorite is blue-green, some faces show a light layer, which gives a lot of contrast to the piece. Now more about this discovery: this is the only relevant discovery in the entire county which produced fluorite except Weisseck Mt. And it was just a small fnd, that produced mostly small single crystals and small groups up to 5cm, a fist full of matrix pieces and only a few specimen in this dimension. So this was a.) a very important find for the area and b.) one of the largest specimen from this find. We have to rank this specimen very high for rarity and for dimension. Developed as floater, backside was contacted. No significant damages to report and even much better in person.
