Fluorite & Calcite

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Summit Cleft, Weißeck, Murwinkel, Tamsweg District, Salzburg, Austria
Class:
Combination
Size Range:
Cabinet (10-18 cm)
Size:
10.3 × 7.8 × 4.6 cm
Description

This specimen shows no etching and faces are lustrous, best quality from this discovery and much better than anything else ever discovered on this mountain. The main crystal is 37mm on edges. The top is framed with yellow-brown calcite. When backlit (only moderately backlit, clarity and translucency are very high) it show steel-blue to violet zones (I add one photo with backlit, one without backlit). Never before crystals from Weisseck show this luster and this glassy character - this quality comes only from this one new discovery in Ice-Cleft on the North slope close to peak elevation. The assemble is exceptional, not just inter grown crystals. The mian crystal is exposed and the framing with calcite makes it stand out from the crowd, it is very eye-catching and aesthetic. No significant damages to report, backside was on the rock.
