Baryte

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Frizington Mine, Frizington, Cumbria, United Kingdom
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
6.7 × 4.7 × 2.4 cm
Description

What we usually know from Frizington are bladed, spear-pointed, tabulat crystals – but never roses like on this particular specimen. The matrix is only 24mm from front to back and perched at the top you can see this well developed rose of blue-grey, translucent baryte crystals with a very light, sharp zoning along all edges. The rose is also complete backside.
Contrast to matrix is really very nice, the assemble is very aesthetic. The specimen came out the „Napoleon III – school of mines“ collection, then it was in the „Guilbert“-collection.
