Description

The main crystal is 24mm across! Gastein Valley is famous for alpine green fluorite octahedrons. There are several discoveries, where fluorite in different colors (mainly different shades of green), sizes and quantities have been found. This specimen comes from the new find which has just been published in the Lapis issue Jg. 42 Nr.10 Okt. 2017. This particular specimen shows very attractive apple-green color. And the faces of the fluorite octahedrons show a special feature: The slightly shining and smooth crystals are partly covered with a second layer. This rare kind of crystallization is well visible on my images. The main crystal is attractively set exposed in the center of the piece. Also the contrast with matrix is very nice and uncommon. Most specimen consists only of intergrown crystals - exposed ones on matrix are the exception! No significant damages to report.
