Fluorite

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Granite Quarry, Shannapheasteen, Connemara, County Galway, Irish Republic (Eire)
Class:
Crystal Group/Cluster
Size Range:
Small cabinet (7-10 cm)
Size:
8.3 × 4.7 × 3 cm
Description

The main crystal is 23mm on edges. The color tones are nearly impossible to capture with the camera. Some are glassy and a cobalt blue, others more violet, more pronounced colour zone near the crystal edges.

Also they are usually (not always) bevelled, bevel usually between 1 and occasionally 2mm. The main crystal and some other more prominent crystals are glassy. And all of them show superb luster. Until this new discoveries we know only ugly 5mm crystals in dirty pale green color from Eire - so this find is really specatcular! Material in this quality was very rare - most are only dull and not in this amazing clarity. So this is an exceptional specimen from an outstanding discovery and should be ranked high for these indicators.
