Fluorite

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Okorusu Mine, Otjiwarongo, Otjozondjupa Region, Namibia
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Cabinet (10-18 cm)
Size:
13.1 × 8.4 × 5.5 cm
Description

Nearly all material from the last 20 years has one in common – the crystals are always inter grown, clusters, nearly never isolated crystals. This specimen is completely different and really outstanding for Okorusu. It features three large (up to 31mm on edges – very large crystals for the mine) cubes. They are isolated, attractively perched on matrix. It is really under 1% of all material, that shows crystals on matrix! The assemble is much more tridimensional in person, the crystals are very exposed. One one side they show some very light faces (caused by some kind of inclusions), the other faces are like windows and you can look inside the very gemmy crystals. They show wonderful pastel blue to green colors and minor purple zoning along some edges.

One more important indicator is luster. All faces show wonderful texture and they are very lustrous! Overall – isolated crystals, texture, color – are very uncommon for Okorusu. Really an outstandig and rare piece, aesthetic and impressive! No significant damages to report.
