Pyrite & Hematite

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Rio Marina, Elba, Livorno Province, Tuscany, Italy
Class:
Combination
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
5.8 × 6.1 × 5.1 cm
Description

In my evaluation this is still the most beautiful combination and the very best locality for pyrite world-wide. Unfortunately field-collecting is impossible there since many years and no new material can be expected. This particular specimen features a highly lustrous, intense colored single crystal. Hematite blades are shining and make an astonishing contrast with the gold colour of the pyrites.. The faces show very nice texture! The specimen came out the collection of local collector and it is professionally treated in order to avoid future oxidation. No significant damages to report.
