Andradite & Hedenbergite

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Avissalos, Serifos Island, Milos, South Aegean, Greece
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
6.6 × 4 × 3.4 cm
Description

The material is from old discoveries, today there is nothing on the market! Since some years it is absolutely impossible to dig on Serifos, some field collectors even became arrested and so no new material can be expected. Now more about this specimen: the brown red crystals are sharp developed, the show a dark zoning along their edges. The assemble is very aesthetic with some exposed crystals, the contrast with greenish hedenbergite matrix is very nice, some thin quartz crystals help to give even more contrast to the specimen, the largest crystal is about 16mm across - a very good dimension for the locality. No significant damages to report.
