Andradite Hedenbergite & Quartz

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Avissalos, Serifos Island, Milos, South Aegean, Greece
Class:
Crystals on Matrix
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
5.4 × 4.3 × 3.9 cm
Description

Today field collecting at teh area is prohibited, some collectors even became arrested. The andradite crystals with this dark zoning along the edges were always rare and now - as no new material can be expected - this material became more and more hard to obtain. The crystals are sharp terminated and partly glossy, their color is brown-red. They are resting on well crystalized hedenbergite, some snowy white quartz crystals help to give a lot of contrast. Undamaged.
