Ilvaite & Quartz

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Serifos Island, Milos, South Aegean, Greece
Class:
Combination
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
6.6 × 5.3 × 4 cm
Description

A specatcular good ilvaite - the crystal is double terminated, it shows very dark, nearly black color and lot of steps and structure. The combination with light, thin quartz crystals helps to give a lot of contrast to the specimen. Ilvaite in this dimension and quality and even on attractive matrix are very uncommon and hard to obtain in our days. Since some years it is absolutely impossible to dig on Serifos, some field collectors even became arrested and so no new material can be expected. In excelent condition damage-wise.
