Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Hüttenberg, Sankt Veit an der Glan District, Carinthia, Austria
Class:
Combination
Size Range:
Small cabinet (7-10 cm)
Size:
8.2 × 6.7 × 3.1 cm
Description

Dark yellow to golden pyrite crystals, all of them lustrous. This is really a historic locality - mining history doesn´t go back for decades, not for centuries - it goes back thousands of years. Even the celtic population mined for iron there. Today it is very difficult to dig or find minerals there, most material is out of old collections. It is prohibited to enter the historic area, no new material can be expected. The specimen shows fine contrast, quality of pyrite is very fine. No significant damages to report.
