Rock Crystal

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Ritterkopf, Ritterkopf Massif, Zell am See District, Salzburg, Austria
Class:
Single Crystal
Size Range:
Cabinet (10-18 cm)
Size:
11.8 × 3.7 × 3.4 cm
Description

The faces on the frontside are highly lustrous and show amazing texture. The backside is partly covered with very dark chlorite. The crystal is very clear and so you can see the chlorite backside trough the crystal. It is impossible to capture clarity on images and so I have to note that the specimen is much better in person. The locality is part of the national park "Hohe Tauern" and it is prohibited to dig there, only a few local "strahler" have a permit from the goverment and so material is very hard to obtain and represents a great rarity from Alps. No significant damages to report.
