Locality:
Hüttenberg, Sankt Veit an der Glan District, Carinthia, Austria
Size Range:
Small miniature (3-4.5 cm)
Size:
4.3 × 3.3 × 2.8 cm
Description

Hüttenberg is an old, historic mining area – iron was mined there. Really of relevance in it´s history – ever heard about boric iron? The high quality iron (ferrum noricum) , which was used for Roman Army came from Hüttenberg and Erzberg. First mentioned in old documents from 1266! But we know about mining even before the old Romans, so this is really a historic locality. Now more about this excellent specimen: the crystals show sharp terminated, color is brownish, but under daylight and in a specific angle is seems to have touch of olive-green, a very special color (hard to describe). All crystals show perfect, mirror like luster. The assemble is very tridimensional and aesthetic in each position (also backside is well formed). Finally there is the framing with snowy white dolomite crystals at the base. Small, but really a jewel. In excellent condition damage-wise.
