Calcite & Chalcopyrite

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Příbram District, Central Bohemian Region, Czech Republic
Size Range:
Cabinet (10-18 cm)
Size:
17.5 × 11.4 × 4.5 cm
Description

The specimen came out an old collection of east european minerals, today such specimen are not on the market. Good samples from Pribram are generally rare, but this one is out-standing. The calcite shows light pink color-tones, the crystals are all sharp and covered with very colorfull micro-crystals of chalcopyrite. I tried to show on detail-photos, but I have to note that it is much better in person. Should be high ranked for the locality, for it´s rarity and for his colorfull appearance. In the center you can see an area without layer, there is no damage, just no chalcopyrite so it looks much lighter. I just want to note that there are no broken crystals. Only a few crystals show minor cleavage at the tips - overall it is in very good condition.
