Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Weiße Wand, Tauern Valley, Spittal an der Drau District, Carinthia, Austria
Size Range:
Small cabinet (7-10 cm)
Size:
7.9 × 5.6 × 3.1 cm
Description

The Bockriegel discovery is the only important Fluorite discovery which was ever made in the entire region. The Fluorite crystals show a combination of octahedron, rhombs and cube. I show some close-ups to give you an idea of the habit. Very difficult to photograph and better in person. At teh top of the specimen you can see lustrouse, double terminated, water clear quartz crystals. Below many fluorite crystals are scattered all over the matrix. The crystals are barely visible because of the clarity, also they are nearly colorless and so there is not a very significent contrast to quartz crystals. There is a touch of pale green to fluorites. The habit is very interesting - uncountable sharp steps, but nearly impossible to show this on a photo. Have a look at my close up-photos, I did my best, but better in person. No significent damages to report.
