Fluorite

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Rieding Lake, Weißeck, Murwinkel, Tamsweg District, Salzburg, Austria
Size Range:
Miniature (4.5-7 cm)
Size:
6.8 × 5.8 × 3.9 cm
Description

The specimen was mined in the 3rd cavern (47 meters inside the mountain) of the summit cleft, close to peak elevation (2711m above sealevel). The crystals show stepped edges and satiny lustre - that is very good for the locality, usually strong etched. Also the high clearity is remarkable, only moderately backlight and it shows intense internal colour. Blue-cyan with lavender tones under daylight, intense blue with LED spots and more violet under artificial light. One more uncommon fact, usually the backside was on the rock - not so here, backside is crystalized, only the bottom was extracted from the rock.
