Fluorite

Description Tabs

Description
Locality:
Rogerley Mine, Frosterley, Weardale, County Durham, United Kingdom
Size Range:
Small cabinet (7-10 cm)
Size:
9.3 × 6.6 × 5 cm
Description

Very well developed specimen with an exposed and complete (also backside) main crystal (22mm on edges) at the top. There is a first generation of smaller crystals as base for several larger crystals in excellent quality. The clearity of these crystals is hard to capture with the camera, but they are almost gemmy and sharp terminated, featuring beautiful vicinal faces. Typically for the locality the fluorite appears in intense green colour under artifical light and switches to royal blue colour under daylight. there are no significant damages. if you look uncommon material from the locality you will see that there is nearly no undamaged specimen like the particular one, also the crystals show much more inclusions and not this fine clearity as seen here. this quality is really very hard to obtain! also the reverse is covered with fluorite, but more etched.
