Description

An impressive specimen of berthierite from a far extended location, the island of Ringvassøy in Northern Norway: an at least 4.5 cm wide vein of steelgray berthierite is in contact with its host rock, a white/light brownish quartz keratophyre (probably a metamorphic tuff). The ore vein shows interesting shaped inclusions of rounded feldspar aggregates. The rock is cut and somewhat polished on one side and left raw on the other, rusty appearing side to show its natural geological setting. A very rare specimen from the only known occurence of berthierite in Norway.
