Description

At the Mofjellet mine, a today abandoned zinc/lead/copper mine in Northern Norway, hydroxyapophyllite-(K) occurs as a young formation within the ore zone. At this specimen dozens of colourless, high lustrous crystals of hydroxyapophyllite fill a cavity in a light grey coloured rock containing some mica. Chemical analyses at this locality showed that the hydroxyapophyllite, the rarer of the two apophyllite end members, only contains 0,01 % F. Showy specimen in very good condition.
