Description

Redbrown coloured almandine garnet and dark green coloured omphacite build up this eclogite, an ultrahigh metamorphic basalt formed during the formation of the Caledonian mountain chain about 450 million years ago. So it is repesenting material from the earth's lower crust from a depth of approx. 35 km.
