This ancient specimen from Sweden was once collected at the Österby pegmatite, situated close to the hamlet of Gustafs in Dalarna. The pegmatite (today disappeared) was mined for quartz and feldspar and got known for rare earth minerals in the 19th century.

A thick light-brown/beige coloured crystalline mass of fluocerite-(Ce) covers quartz and in between a dark red mineral (bastnäsite-(Ce)?) is forming a narrow rim around as well as healing fine natural cracks within the fluocerite-(Ce). In addition a black mineral (allanite?) can be observed.

A rich and unique historical specimen of this rare mineral species.
