Description

Thulite is the „National Stone of Norway“ and has been used as gemstone and for the manufacturing of gemstone products since many years. There a several different occurences of thulite in Norway, each with its specific characteristics.

The best thulite specimens probably came from the classic locality of Leksvik. A German dealer claims to hold mining rights there today. Here we have an intensely coloured specimen of pink thulite with some quartz, feldspar and a few dark red areas of piemontite. A very nice old-time specimen, unfortunately without old label which has crumbled into hundreds of small pieces.
