Description

An aggregate of orange brown, terminated gjerdingenite-Fe crystals, approx. 1 mm in size, as well as a fine, redbrown coloured janhaugite crystal, approx. 0.5mm in size, are embedded in ekerite rock.

At Gjerdingen gjerdingenite Fe was originally considered as nenadkevichite but was later analyzed as an own mineral species (Raade G., Ferraris G., Gula A. & Ivaldi, G., 2002).

Gjerdingen is type locality for both gjerdingenite-Fe and janhaugite!
