Description

For a long time it was believed that this mineral is pseudobrookite. More recent investigations by microprobe analysis showed, however, that the material does not exit of pseudobrookite any longer but is altered to a finegrained mass of rutile intergrown with hematite. Therefore the crystals on this specimens are pseudomorphs after pseudobrookite. The prismatic crystals are sharp, have high metallic luster and show an interesting texture on their surface. They are embedded in feldspar and greenish apatite. Specimen from an old German collection.
