Description

A good crystal of brown coloured alvite with some good faces and edges. This variety of zircon from this area usually contains hafnium and is therefore called alvite. As it mostly contains some uranium or thorium the material is often metamict and therefore good crystals are rare.
This very old specimen is from the collection of the French mineralogist A.A. Damour (1808-1902). No label about that.
