Description

A dark olive green complex homilite crystal (probably twins) with several nice faces. It is from a nepheline-syenite pegmatite from one of the small islands in the Stokksund/Langesundsfjorden that is bordering the island of Stokköya, which is officially the type locality.

It comes from the collection of Prof. W.C. Brögger, who built up the collection at Stockholm University in the 1880s. This collection was later transferred to the Riksmuseum in Stockholm. This specimen therefore is followed by a label from this institution.

To this day, homilite - especially crystals of this size - can only be found in very few locations in the world.
